Rainy season

The rainy season appears to have started and it has been raining now for about 3 weeks. The temperature hasn't risen too much and is sitting around 6 or 7 degrees during the day. i have added a weather widget to the blog to further fuel my obsession, and allow those similarly afflicted to check the temperature for themselves (hopefully it works).

At the end of each class period there is a stream of pastel umbrellas as the students all make their way across the road to their next class.

Work has started again and the weeks seem to be flying by now. Penny has been going a bit mental with cabin fever. The rain and the cold pretty much mean that she is confined to the house most of the time. Anna our baby sitter is back now so at least Penny sees a few new faces and gets to play with some different people occasionally.

Anna and the Penster.

The bionic tot....

A new teacher has arrived from, can you guess?... Brisbane, no wait make that Redcliffe, yes another Clontarf high veteran. He started at CBSHS the year after I finished (yes a young-un, and Sonia Fillipini he remembers you). His name is Jeff and he is about 7 foot tall. I went into town to show him around a little and I felt like a native...no one looked at me twice they were all too busy goggling at Jeff. It was very nice and I might have to take him with me again just to avoid all of the stares. All of the foreign teachers and students are off to a Brazilian BBQ restaurant on Friday night which is supposed to be good. We are heading in early so that we can get back and put Penny to bed by a reasonable hour.

We tried some caramel slices, they were delicious although we have no coconut and the caramel got a little overdone in our dodgy little toaster oven. The next batch will be better...at least the ANZAC biccies were good...mmm!

There isn't too much happening here at the moment, just in the usual teaching week pattern. Class, home, class, home, class, home, sleep and then start again.
